A: Yes, click on “My Content” then, click on "Video" and you will see a bullet called, “Embed from another site.” Select that bullet, then paste the html code from the other video site. Again, videos cannot be more than 20MB in size. Uncheck the “Share in gallery” radio button if you don’t want to share the video with the community.

Q: What is a Group?

A: A group is created by a member of the community for a multitude of reasons. A member could create a group for people real estate investors, or a group for commercial REALTORS®, or it could be for personal reasons, like to find others who have a similar interest or hobby. Once you create the group, you can invite other members of the community to belong to your group and within the group you can upload photos and files, blog, create forums, create events and view a group calendar. Groups can be open to the whole community, or closed to only those invited by the group creator. Closed groups can be used like an intranet for committees and other purposes.

Q: What is a Blog?

A: Wikipedia defines Blog as follows: A blog (a contraction of the term "Web log") is a Web site, usually maintained by an individual [1], with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketches (sketchblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting), which are part of a wider network of social media. Micro-blogging is another type of blogging, one which consists of blogs with very short posts. As of December 2007, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs.[2] With the advent of video blogging, the word blog has taken on an even looser meaning — that of any bit of media wherein the subject expresses his opinion or simply talks about something.

The KansasRealtorFamily.com Blog will be a collection of commentary by members of the community, including REALTORS® and association staff. Blogging is a great place for people to share their views with others and the original blog, combined with the comments of others can be an amazing collection of voices. Don’t be shy! Jerry McGuire moments encouraged.

Q: What is the difference between a Blog and a Forum?

A: Forums are created for discussions, while Blogs are mainly designed for a single user input, with possibility for other people to comment. Blogs are more like a simple homepage where other people may contribute with comments, however, the blog owner can delete any comment he/she doesn't like. In forums, there could be thousands of people posting topic messages and also adding comments. Forums are typically short posts – keep it simple, please don’t write your manifesto here!

Q: Does it cost to post on Classifieds?

A: No cost – post away!

Q: Can I post my listings here?

A: Yes, this Classifieds section is for the members to use as they see fit.

Q: Will KAR monitor KansasRealtorFamily.com for inappropriate content?

A: Yes and the site has built in protections, including the ability for members of the community to flag content as “inappropriate.”

Q: Can I make my profile page visible to others outside of the KansasRealtorFamily.com website?

A: Yes you can. If you “Edit Profile,” then click on the “Settings” tab, you will see settings for privacy, email and at the bottom of this page a section called “Set Permalink Url.” Here, you can create your own KansasRealtorFamily.com web page viewable outside of the community. You can create a link to this page from your website and you have the choice of creating a profile page and/or a blog page. Visitors will be able to view your profile or blog, but won’t be able to browse into the community. The choices create separate urls for each. Example: http://kansasrealtorfamily.com/johnsmith or http://kansasrealtorfamily.com/johnsmith/blogs. You may want to think about making your profile page viewable, i.e., if you put personal information here that you may want to share with your REALTOR® community but not necessarily the general public. However, you could make great use of the blog page as it pertains to the public and your business.
